Rite Aid Professor, Assistant Department Head for Residency Programs

Beth Phillips is Assistant Department Head, Residency Programs, and Rite Aid Professor at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy; and Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner at the Augusta VA HealthCare. She is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy and Ambulatory Care, and a Fellow of ASHP and ACCP. She has served as a lead surveyor for ASHP since 2019, and as a practitioner surveyor for PGY1 and PGY2 programs since 2005. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Kansas, and went on to complete a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Specialized Residency in Ambulatory Care at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Prior to joining the University of Georgia, she was a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Ambulatory Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and a clinical faculty member at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She is heavily involved with didactic and experiential teaching of Pharm.D. students, and PGY1 and PGY2 Residents; and was a Residency Program Director for 25 years. She has published over 75 journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts, and is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. She is the past Chair of the ASHP Commission on Credentialing and the 2010 recipient of the Pharmacy Residency Excellence Preceptor Award.
