Nathan Pope, PharmD, FAPhA, is an accreditation services associate in ASHP's Accreditation Services Division. He received his B.S. and Pharm.D. from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers: The State University of New Jersey. Afterwards, he completed a post-graduate (PGY1) Community-based Pharmacy Residency with Walgreens at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. After residency, he worked in various community pharmacy settings including Walgreens and Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy. Nathan then owned and operated Live Oak Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy in Austin, TX. Nathan was the Residency Program Director for the ASHP-accredited H-E-B/UT PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program for 14 years (2008-2022). Nathan started his time at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 2008 and earned his way to Clinical Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Experiential Education (2021-2023). He is a recipient of the Bowl of Hygiea Award, the APhA Community Pharmacy Residency Excellence in Precepting Award, and is a Fellow of APhA. He was heavily involved in the pharmacy profession including president of the Capital Area Pharmacy Association (Austin, TX) and member of the board of the Texas Pharmacy Association and the American College of Apothecaries. Nathan has been a guest practitioner surveyor and a contract lead surveyor prior to starting full time with ASHP.
