Dr. Nicolas holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and serves as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) University. Dr. Nicolas completed a fellowship in medication safety, quality, and informatics. As a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Dr. Nicolas encourages the use of digital health to improve the quality of care and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Dr. Nicolas brings a wealth of experience from community pharmacy, institutional pharmacy, and informatics in the hospital setting. In her role as an informatics specialist, Dr. Nicolas has built order sets and integrated clinical decision support into the hospital’s electronic health record. In addition to other topics, Dr. Nicolas teaches informatics, digital health, and artificial intelligence (AI) in the PharmD didactic curriculum. Dr. Nicolas has authored peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Nicolas believes that healthcare professionals can effectively utilize health information technology tools by comprehending their functionality and recognizing their limitations.
