Pharmacy Executive Director
Gretchen Brummel brings 27 years of experience in healthcare. She has served as a Pharmacy Executive Director for a Healthcare Performance Improvement Company, Director of Clinical Pharmacy, Residency Program Director and Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at a large tertiary care academic medical center in Pennsylvania as well as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist for a clinical drug information provider. Her areas of expertise include: clinical pharmacy services; pediatric pharmacotherapy; medication quality & safety; medication cost avoidance strategies; drug shortage and formulary management; medication use policy; clinical research and digital technologies. Gretchen holds the following experience among her key accomplishments: starting & curating a podcast, leading a “from scratch” national footprint competency build, expansion of clinical pharmacy services to an emergency department and ambulatory setting; inpatient clinical pharmacist decentralization; implementation of a “Meds to Beds” program; customization of an electronic dose-range checker; leading a multidisciplinary drug shortage committee; directing an antimicrobial stewardship program expansion to pediatric patients; creation of a stand-alone neonatal dosage field in a pediatric drug information resource; implementation of an inpatient pediatric immunization program and participation in a physical relocation of an inpatient pharmacy and Children’s Hospital. Gretchen received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, completed an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at Meriter Hospital and an ASHP-accredited Pediatric Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina.
