PGY1 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Resident

Michael Toraño, PharmD, MBA, CPHQ received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and his Master of Business Administration from Quantic School of Business and Technology. He now is in a PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center with a simultaneous Master of Science in Pharmacy Leadership and Administration at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. His clinical interests include HIV, cardiology, and hematology, and his professional interests include pharmacy technology and automation, inventory management, and process efficiency. Dr. Toraño was selected for multiple awards through his local societies of health-system pharmacy including the Gulf Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacy Leadership Scholarship and the Richard Cadle Scholarship for Pharmacy Mentorship. He currently serves as the Resident Co-Lead for the CommonSpirit Health Pharmacy Residency Committee, as the Social Media Chair for the Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center residency programs, and on the New Practitioner Committee for the Gulf-Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacy, among other roles. Upon completion of residency, Michael hopes to work as a pharmacy manager in an institution or system that leverages technology and artificial intelligence to improve process efficiency and advance the practice of pharmacy. In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, playing with his dogs Katy and Heidi, and learning languages.
