Daniel Truelove is the Director of Pharmacy for University Health Network at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he leads the development of new ambulatory care pharmacy programs. He is a pharmacy residency preceptor (former PGY2 Ambulatory Care Program Director) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. Truelove earned his Pharm.D. from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL, and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Louisville Hospital. As a practitioner, he has implemented new clinical pharmacy services at multiple health systems. Truelove is actively involved with ASHP, where he is a past Chair and current Director-at-Large for the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners Executive Committee. He previously served on the Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners Section Advisory Group on Business Development and has contributed to multiple committees, networking sessions, resource documents, and ASHP initiatives. Truelove frequently presents at state and national meetings on ambulatory, specialty, and population health pharmacy topics. He has led statewide initiatives, including improved access to antiviral therapy, pharmacist reimbursement as providers, and value-based care pharmacy curriculum. His professional interests include advancing the pharmacy profession, redefining clinical pharmacists' roles, and educating future leaders to improve patient care.
