Amanda Prusch, PharmD, BCPS, CPPS is the Manager, Medication Utilization at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. Amanda oversees the coordination of the department’s medication utilization and inpatient clinical pharmacy activities. She led a team in developing and implenting a clinical pharmacist ladder for professional development and staff engagement. Previously, Amanda served as the organization’s Medication Safety Officer in which she was involved in coordinating medication safety and quality improvement initiatives to further augment the organization’s medication safety culture. For over 15 years, the team’s efforts related to Smart Pump-EHR Interoperability have been recognized through various awards (ASHP Best Practice in Health-System Pharmacy Award, an ASHP Foundation Award Finalist for Excellence in Medication Use Safety, and an ISMP Cheers Award). Amanda was the recipient of the 2018 Pennsylvania Society of Health System Pharmacists’ (PSHP) Pharmacist of the Year award. Amanda has been involved in various leadership roles, including current RPD for Lancaster General’s PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program and in the past has served twice as President for the South East Chapter of the PSHP. She received her PharmD degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Following graduation, she completed a pharmacy practice residency program with York Hospital in York, PA. Amanda is also Lean Six-Sigma trained, Just Culture Certified, and has achieved board certified pharmacotherapy specialist (BCPS) status as well as Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
