Brianne (Bri) Bakken, PharmD, MHA is an Associate Professor of Health Systems Administration and Executive Leadership at the University of Iowa College of Nursing (UICON). Bakken received her PharmD from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, followed by completion of the PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics along with a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from the University of Iowa College of Public Health.
Bakken is an experienced health-system pharmacy leader, educator, and workforce researcher. Prior to joining the UICON, Bakken was an Assistant Professor and founding faculty at the Medical College of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy with a practice site at Children's Wisconsin where she served as a Pharmacy Manager responsible for strategic planning, practice advancement, and pharmacy education/training programs. Bakken maintains active membership and has held numerous leadership positions in local, regional, and national organizations, including the Iowa Pharmacists Association (IPA), the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Bakken is also a member of the Midwest Pharmacist Workforce Research Consortium that produces the National Pharmacy Workforce Study, a systematic nationwide survey of pharmacists conducted approximately every five years. Her research interests include pharmacy pipeline, gender and racial diversity, discrimination, harassment, residency training and certifications, leadership aspiration, practice advancement, and ambulatory care practice.
