Professor, Director of Non-Degree Programs

John J. Arnold, Ph.D., R.Ph. currently serves as Professor and Director of Non-Degree Programs in the McWhorter School of Pharmacy at Samford University. He received his B.S. pharmacy from Auburn University in 1997 and his Ph,D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2004. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmalogy at Duke University in 2006 where his research focused on strategies for improving drug delivery to eye for the treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Arnold has had an active pharmacy practice in various pharmacy settings for over 25 years. His primary practice experience is in pediatric hosptial pharmacy. He also has pharmaceutical industry experience as he served as Senior Scientist at Aerie Pharmaceutical from 2006-2008. Dr. Arnold has been a faculty member at the McWhorter School of pharmacy since 2009 where he instructs pharmacy students in dosage form utilization and compounding. Since 2019, he has served as Director of Non-Degree Programs which includes overseeing continuing pharmacy education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians as well as a pharmacy technician training program.
