Dr. Carolyn Oxencis, PharmD, BCOP is a Hematology/Oncology pharmacist specialist and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) School of Pharmacy and an Assistant Professor for the MCW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, co-directing the Pharmacogenomics course in the Precision Medicine Certificate program. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Froedtert Hospital. Dr. Oxencis holds multiple pharmacogenomics and oncology genomics certifications and is an active Clinical Pharmacogenetic Implementation Consortium (CPIC) member. She helped launch the Rare Disease and Precision Medicine Clinic at the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center and a virtual Pharmacogenomics Consult Service through the Froedtert Ambulatory Specialty Clinics. Research interests include pharmacogenetics, biomarkers, health literacy, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs).
Dr. Oxencis served on the ASHP Council on Therapeutics and is a member and Past Chair of the ASHP Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists Section Advisory Group on Emerging Sciences. She is currently serving on the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Council and the HOPA Oral Chemotherapy Collaborative. Dr. Oxencis is co-author of the updated ASHP Statement on the Pharmacist’s Role in Clinical Pharmacogenomics, and recipient of an ASHP Best Practice Award for her work pioneering pharmacist-led admission medication reconciliation and discharge transitions of care.
