Rob Schluth—Principal Project Officer, Device Evaluation & Safety, ECRI—is a project leader focusing on content development and program management at ECRI, an independent nonprofit organization providing unbiased guidance on medical technologies and treatments to healthcare professionals around the world. During his 30-year tenure with ECRI's Device Evaluation & Safety group, Rob has contributed to hundreds of published device evaluations, problem reports, and guidance articles spanning the full range of health technologies.

Mr. Schluth currently leads the development of ECRI's annual Top 10 Health Technology Hazards report. ECRI produces this report each year to help healthcare organizations and care providers reduce preventable harm through the improved management of health technologies. The report identifies potential sources of harm associated with medical technologies and provides recommendations for action to prevent future incidents.

In addition, Mr. Schluth manages special initiatives for the organization, notably ECRI's annual Health Technology Excellence Award competition. He also served as lead writer and editor for the organization's 2014 monograph "The Alarm Safety Handbook: Strategies, Tools, and Guidance." In his previous role as Editorial Director for the group, Mr. Schluth was responsible for developing, editing, and managing the group's information products, including the monthly journal "Health Devices" and three editions of the organization’s "Sharps Safety and Needlestick Prevention" publications.
