Athena L.V. Hobbs, PharmD, BCIDP graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, completed her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at the University of Chicago Medicine, and completed her PGY2 residency in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship at Seton Healthcare Family in conjunction with the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining the Cardinal Health team, she was the Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee where she implemented many antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to advance the practice of infectious diseases and promote evidence-based care for patients. Her current role with Cardinal Health involves implementing antimicrobial initiatives in a healthcare system comprised of 65 LTACs and Rehabs. Her particular areas of interest and publication are in antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, and antibiotic pharmacokinetics. Athena enjoys being involved with professional organizations and is currently serving as the Society of Infectious Diseases Programs Committee Immediate Past Chair as well as the current Chair of the Middle Tennessee Antimicrobial Stewardship Symposium. She currently resides in Memphis with her husband and 2 year old daughter. In her free time, she enjoys singing in a semi-professional choir at Rhodes College and traveling to new destinations.
