Clayton Irvine, PharmD, MBA, MS is the Senior Manager of Oncology Cancer Care at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he leads daily Oncology pharmacy practice and operations within the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. He is an alum of the West Virginia University John Chambers College of Business and Economics, West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, and University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, where he earned respective MBA, PharmD, and MS in health system pharmacy administration degrees.
Clayton currently serves as an appointed committee member for the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders and Vice Chair of the Practice Management Program Committee for the Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA). He is also actively engaged in the Value, Quality, and Compliance Subcommittee for the Vizient Pharmacy Network and the Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Clayton’s practice interests are centered around oncology/hematology. He is passionate about expanding and optimizing access while focusing ton strategies to reduce financial toxicity. He led the implementation of Mayo Clinic’s and the state of Minnesota’s first IV chemotherapy compounding robot, which has helped accommodate meaningful increases in patient treatment capacity and volumes. Additionally, he has worked on streamlining the development of chemotherapy advanced preparation programs, capturing productivity metrics, and expanding the use of automation and digital solutions in the oncology pharmacy space.
