Dr. Scott Nelson, is a pharmacist and Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Nelson competed his pharmacy training at the University of Utah, then finished a 2-year fellowship in medical informatics with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and a Masters in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah. His current roles at Vanderbilt include being the Director of the Master of Science in Applied Clinical Informatics (MS-ACI) online program and a Clinical Director in HealthIT where he works in Medication Safety Informatics. Some of his areas of expertise include medication reconciliation, e-prescribing, clinical decision support, medication warnings, knowledge management and engineering, medication standards and terminologies, EHR design, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.
