System Formulary Management and Drug Policy Specialist

Alexsandra (Alex) Nilges, PharmD, MBA, MS currently works at University Hospitals (UH) in System Formulary Management and Drug Policy Development. Alex received her PharmD and MBA from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. In the two years following, Alex completed her residency at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus as a PGY1/PGY2 in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) where she also earned a MS in Pharmacy Leadership through the University of Cincinnati. She has maintained active involvement within ASHP over the last seven years, most recently serving as vice chair and chair for the inaugural and second year, respectively, of ASHP's Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residents' Collaborative (PALRC). In her current role at UH, Alex both leads and supports system formulary and policy management, along with other system strategic initiatives in informatics and operations. Alex's love for formulary management started during her internship at Johns Hopkins Health System, and her other interests include advocacy, lean process improvement, gender equity, and management and leadership. Outside of pharmacy, Alex serves on the Community Board for She Should Run, a national organization dedicated to closing the gender gap across all levels of elected office.
