PGY-1 Residency Program Director

Dr. Alexander Levine received his Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut and completed a PGY-1 residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Following his residency, he was a Critical Care pharmacist in the Surgical ICU at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Levine then transitioned to a role in academia as an Assistant Professor at the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy where he taught the pharmacology of infectious diseases, cardiology, and critical care.
Dr. Levine is currently the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, Connecticut. He is the preceptor for Internal Medicine II and Transitions of Care rotations. His primary research interests are optimizing outcomes among heart failure and stroke patients during transitions of care and managing anticoagulation in special populations. Dr. Levine is an active member of the Connecticut Society of Health System Pharmacists currently serving as the Director-at-Large and Co-Chair of the Education Committee.
