Melinda S Garner is a Pharmacist for Lee Health in Fort Myers, Florida. Melinda obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida. She continued her education at Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy where she received her Doctor of Pharmacy, then completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Akron City Hospital, Summa Health, in Akron, Ohio.
Melinda has practiced in both adult and pediatric acute care facilities focusing on intensive care units, as well as gaining experience through home infusion and skilled nursing facilities. Her range of experiences have allowed her to precept numerous pharmacy students and pharmacy residents with broad interests, over her diverse career.
Since 2021, Melinda has served as a co-vice chair for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and is responsible for formulary management and policy review for the five-hospital health system. In addition, Melinda coordinates the Pharmacy Competency program for initial and ongoing competency training for 180 acute care pharmacists.
Most recently, Melinda has been a member of the Steering Committee for Lee Health’s application for the ASHP Center of Excellence in Medication-Use Safety and Pharmacy Practice Certification. During this process, Melinda collaborated with team members to examine current practices, recognize the strengths of the system, identify areas for improvement, and lead efforts to advance pharmacy services across the health system.
