Children's of Alabama
Brenda Reed Denson received her B.S. in Chemistry from Livingston University in 1994 and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 1998. She completed her ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency at Children’s Health System in 1999. Dr. Denson became lead pharmacist of the stem cell transplant pharmacy at Children’s Hospital in 2000 and then became the Clinical Coordinator of Pharmacy at Children’s Hospital in 2001. Later, Dr. Denson served as the Investigational Pharmacist at Children’s of Alabama and now serves as the Pharmacy Educator for Children’s of Alabama where she serves on various multidisciplinary committees. Additionally, Dr. Denson has practiced in a LTAC setting at Select Medical in Birmingham, long term care with Omnicare, and in various independent and retail pharmacy settings.
Dr. Denson has served on the Alabama Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (AlSHP) as organizational affairs council director, vice-chair of the Legislative affairs committee, treasurer, and president. She has served as one of the delegates to the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists and has served on Public Policy Council with the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists. Dr. Denson served her alma mater on the McWhorter School of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council and was appointed by Governor Robert Bentley for a five year term on the Alabama Board of Pharmacy that started January 1, 2017.
