ASHP
Erika Lutz Thomas, M.B.A., B.S.Pharm. is Director of the ASHP Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners. In this role, Ms. Thomas serves as staff liaison to the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners Executive Committee. She also acts as an ASHP information resource and provides guidance to ASHP members on pharmacy practice in various inpatient care environments in hospitals and health systems, including small and rural hospitals, compounding practice, medication safety, and precepting for pharmacy practice experiences. She also serves as Secretary to the ASHP Council on Education and Workforce Development.
Her pharmacy practice experience includes inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, Joint Commission accreditation survey preparation, benchmarking, and supervisory responsibilities. Ms. Thomas received her Master of Business Administration degree from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, Texas, and a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. She completed an ASHP-accredited residency in hospital pharmacy at Harper-Graces Hospitals in Detroit, Michigan. Ms. Thomas also has experience in planning professional association activities at the state and local levels, including planning educational programming for ASHP state affiliate meetings and regional residency conferences.
