Michael Stepanovic, Pharm.D., M.S., is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy training at Purdue University. While there, his research focused on sustainable medicines in Africa and the detection of counterfeit medications. His current research interests include health-system pharmacy administration, leadership development, patient safety, practice advancement, and innovation & entrepreneurship.
Dr. Stepanovic completed a PGY1 Acute Care Residency and PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During that time, he received his Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a Specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from UNC, served as Chief Resident, Interim Manager of Emergency Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy Lead of the Hospital Emergency Response Team (HERT), and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Stepanovic completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Health-System Pharmacy Administration at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and was appointed a Venture Catalyst Fellow through KickStart Venture Services powered by InnovateCarolina
Dr. Stepanovic is active in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is an active member of the THRIV coalition for IV accuracy.
