Operations Coordinator
University Hospitals
Richie Romaniszyn, PharmD, BCPS, is an Operations Coordinator at University Hospitals (UH) in Cleveland, Ohio. Richie earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) in Rootstown, Ohio. After graduation, he completed his Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Residency at Bon Secours Mercy Health - Lorain Hospital in Lorain, Ohio. Afterwards, Richie completed his Postgraduate Year 2 (PGY2) Ambulatory Care Residency at CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri. Richie currently oversees a variety of pharmacy operations at University Hospitals, which includes leading the pharmacy department's initiatives within population health and employee health. As UH's ambulatory pharmacy services have expanded, Richie created and implemented a support team of non-pharmacists that have helped our pharmacists in creative ways to allow them to practice at the top of their license. Richie's most impactful achievement at UH is the continuous focus of an employee health diabetes pharmacy service aimed at improving patient Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) outcomes and alleviating financial concerns for UH's most at risk population. This service has resulted in a positive impact for the 1,500 patients enrolled into the program with a patient's average HbA1c decreasing 0.7% over the past two years. Richie is looking forward to continuing to grow his ambulatory pharmacy team, as well as continuing to expand and launch initiatives to further impact patient care.
